Special Education Carnival is hosted by the members of the KDP Honors Society and the Education Department. This is a great way to get the students out of the classroom to have a day filled with learning and fun. The students get to participate in activities and have fun with their teachers and friends. During the carnival, the members of our department and members of KDP get to gain more experience with students.

I am an alumnae of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. I served as the Vice President of Alumnae Relations for a full calendar year. As the Vice President of Alumnae Relations, I would communicate with the alumnae and help our sisters network with them depending on their majors and their career interests. I was also the Ritual Chairman for a semester where it was my responsibility to educate the sisters on the chapter's practices and their purpose. In Sigma Kappa, we raised money for our philanthropies which are; Sigma Kappa Foundation, Inherit the Earth, Gerontology, Maine Sea Coast, and Alzheimers Association. We raised funds through the Walk to End Alzheimers, volunteered at Saint Paul's for Gerontology, sold roses for the Sigma Kappa Foundation, and sold other products for Maine Sea Coast and Inherit the Earth.
The 1874 Giving Circle Grant
In 2018, our chapter (Gamma Delta) in Sigma Kappa had the opportunity to apply for the 1874 Giving Circle Grant. The grant would be used on behalf of the chapter and titled the project "Tackling Literacy". As a result of our chapter's determination, we were awarded the grant. This grant allowed us to visit Greenville Elementary School where we gave each student in grades PreK-6 a book, juice box, and cookie. The students' happiness was very rewarding, which made all of our chapter's hard work worth it.
